At the dawn of the digital revolution of the 1990’s, an up-and-coming indie rock band Jump Like Django has grown a strong following in Albany, New York.
Unaware a battle is looming between independent labels and the corporate music industry, Charley, the band’s leader, is challenged by their manager, Doc, to relocate out west in Seattle for a shot at the big time. Just as they learn of their first big break, a west coast tour with Sonic Youth, the band is met with loss.
Charley’s internal struggles now consume the band; faced with the gut-wrenching choice to take the opportunity or show loyalty to brotherhood, his mother and absent father, that would break up the band and ultimately his relationship with Lucy, his bandmate and love interest.
With Charley in a state of despair, his songwriting becomes the only source of consolation and connection. He finally learns the truth of his father’s abandonment and has to find within himself the confidence to move on.
Loyal, gifted and passionate about music as a unifying force, Charley is determined to never give up his dream, yet never give in what he believes; nevertheless, courage and confidence are elusive at times of great change and opportunities for independent artists like Charley are fleeting. Charley must determine what it means to stick to his guns. Should he say let go or wait until time comes around?
